Alex's First Day of School

Today was Alex's first day of school for the year.  This year, he will be in the 2 1/2 year old class, all of these kids will be turning 3 sometime throughout the year.  At the "meet the teacher" day on Friday, they seemed like a really great group of kiddos!

He will have two teachers again this year, Ms. Amy and Ms. Lynn.  They both seem like amazing, loving women!

All weekend, we have been reminding Alex that he was going back to school - we wanted to get him used to the idea and didn't want him to be alarmed when we took him!  As soon as we pulled into school this morning, he started yelling "my school, my school"!  He was so excited :)

I know he is looking so forward to going to school and playing with his friends.  He loves learning and being around people.  And he absolutely LOVES music on Tuesdays (he usually comes home singing a new song for me)!

Here is a picture of his cheesy grin before leaving for school this morning:

Painting Class

Sheena and I decided to go to a painting class tonight.  Neither of us are very artsy, but we thought doing something new would be fun.  We went to a little place here in town, My Spirited Art.

The class was pretty basic.  The teacher went through the steps with us and showed us how to paint the picture we signed up for.  I do have to say, even though she explained it to us, having it go from my brain to the paint brush didn't quite go as planned!

Our painting didn't quite turn out like the one we signed up for, but we had a great time though and it was so nice to get out of the house for a few hours!

Here is my finished product:

I forgot my camera, so I will have to get the rest of the pictures from Sheena!

Rocket City Beach Bash

Today, we took Alex to the Rocket City Beach Bash here in Huntsville.  It was a really fun day!

A bunch of sand was brought in to cover a few streets in downtown Huntsville - there was a TON of sand.  They had few areas set up in the sand for kids to play in (make sandcastles, dig in the sand, etc.), an inflatable waterslide, a huge inflatable slip-n-slide, a few little carnival games and the splash park near the Earlyworks Museum.

Alex had a blast running through the sand (until it got a bit too hot for him to walk in it), playing in the sand, going on the slip-n-slide and waterslide and playing in the splash park.  We got a HUGE slushie drink while we were there and Alex thought that was quite the treat.  The cup that it came in was nearly as big as he was, but that didn't slow him down!

We had a great time at the Rocket City Beach Bash and will definitely be attending next year!
